Thursday Update
Topic: News
This Thursday, Angelfire release a backend site update to resolve a number of small bugs on the site, as well as to prepare for an update to Angelfire Blogs and Angelfire Photo Albums which should be available in the next two weeks.

Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that older members (>3 years, at least) with mixed-case member names are now being logged into a downcased member site, without their existing content. I have received word that this problem should be corrected by Monday afternoon. If you are affected by this, you will not be able to update your site this weekend but it will continue to be visible to visitors. In addition, I ask that you do not attempt to move files from your mixed-case account directory to the newly created downcased one.

In addition, there also appears to be a problem with user counters. (The old Angelfire counter, not the Html Gear one.) This should also be fixed on Monday.

If you see any other new bugs which might be related to this release or any questions, please comment on this post to let us know.

Old case senstive web address = your webshell is gone???
Mood:  irritated
Topic: HTML Questions
It seems someone at Angelfire/Lycos has changed the case senstive web site address system in the webshell so my webshell which did have 100's of html files and 100's of jpgs now says it has 1 html file and no jpg files. My Angelfire web address has a capital W in it but when I log in my webshell shows a small w and says I just have a 1k index.html file with the beginner Angelfire template. All my html and jpg files are missing from the webshell. I have no way to edit my massive website anymore that I have had since 1996 and which I pay Angelfire over $9 a month for.

I checked someone else's webshell I handle for them and they had a capital letter in their address and the same thing happened to them. What is going on here? Can someone explain???

Need Help
I need someone to remind me how to break up text and bold/center/underline, etc in a text box. I created a page a long time ago which has since then been deleted. I can no longer refer to it for help. If anyone can just jot a short note to remind me that would be so helpful!

Thanks!

Counter Error
Topic: HTML Questions
I noticed my home page now says "Counter Error" where my guest counter normally is. I've never had a problem before and wasn't sure if something went haywire on simply my site, or if all of the Angelfire counters are down. Does anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Image only appears when page is refreshed!
I have inserted an image on my home page (www.angelfire.com/rock3/eddstanley)called untitled.bmp. I inserted it using the HTML editor thing. The picture appears when I preview the page, but when I load the page properly, it doesn't appear. But when I refresh the page, it does appear.

It seems very strange to me

Can anyone help?
thanks

GGGRRR
I went to the angelfire website to get info on managing my site and went thru the steps and when I got to the one saying:
The index.html file is the first page people will see when they type in your URL. For example, when you type in: www.angelfire.com/electronic/newbietutorial/ , the web browser looks for www.angelfire.com/electronic/newbietutorial/index.html. This is a web standard, like it or not. If you've already made a site, and you've named your first page something else (some common ones are: main.html, page1.html, or mypage.html), make sure to go back and rename that file to index.html with a lower case i. The Web Shell's Rename button makes this a simple process.

Well I did and now my website doesnt work, I've lost EVERYTHING! all because I listened to the Help Page, well Help Page: I need your assistance in getting me out of this problem you told me to do.

Feedback form with MS FrontPage.......please help!!!
I have uploaded all of the files for my website which were created in Microsoft FrontPage 2000. With the feedback form, when the user clicks on 'submit', they get taken to an error page which says about FrontPage extensions. I have already enabled FrontPage extensions in Angelfire, and I have tried many different ways to get this working and I have published the whole website in FrontPage, but it is still not working properly.

Can anyone help?

Directing two domains, and selecting which page to put where
Mood:  not sure
Topic: FrontPage
I have upgraded from Neon to Argon, with the assurance that with two domain names, I can put everything on retro/beadracer. How do I select which domain points to which file? Is this a Front Page function (both websites are built with Front Page 2002) or an HTML function? Please send me any ideas to karen@beadracer.com.

thanks.

tracking traffic
Now Playing: mozart
Do the codes on the traffic report give any indication where a computer might be located? Last night, a visitor posted a somewhat raunchy message to the guestbook, which I've blocked. From the time posted by HTML Gear, I was able to determine the source: 24.255.19.66 Does this code tell me anything, such as state, city, provider or anything else? Thanks.
