need help with intrapage link
Now Playing: www.mamasbakerybarn.com
im trying to add an intrapage link to one of my pages and i keep getting an error. i have checked and rechecked and than checked the code again to no avail?? seems like its not allowed on angelfire? but its such a simple thing that i dont understand why it would not be? thanks for any help you can offer and yes i will check back here and also will say thank you to any help offered. one thing i would like to say though is, in the past when i have posted here, i get all kinds of advice regarding my website that is way off topic of my question, such as the size of my graphics etc. while this information has been helpful to me, i would appreciate this time to just get help with the question i am asking. the reason being is, i am new to html and hand coding all of my pages. im learning by trial and error and im completely aware that my site is not up to most experienced standards. i am taking a html class via the internet and hope to be able to understand how to do things differenctly soon. im not trying to be rude by asking this, i just have to weed through all the stuff, than i get off track on what im actually trying to figure out and before i know it, the night is over and i havent spent a minute with my family. im trying to take things one step at a time. thank you for understanding.

Mac OS 9 problems
Mood:  quizzical
Has there been any progress with the blank account pages with Mac OS 9 ? I hate to be a bother, but I will need to be updating my websites and if I cannot do it here, I will have to move my accounts somewhere that I can, though I certainly don't want to leave Angelfire, which I have used for years. I realize it may not be immediately fixable, but it would be nice to know if there has been any progress on it at all. Thanks.

Problems editing with Ctrl+F in Angelfire Webshell
When using "Find" in IE to edit a page my computer freezes after the third or fourth entry found. This has only been a problem since the new design. I have tried several different computers using Windows 98, XT and NT with the same results. I can't find anywhere to report this bug to Angelfire. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Al-J

Angelfire Pop-ups
Mood:  blue
I recently learned that Angelfire has long since taken away the option to choose between banners and pop-ups. Unfortunately, I am stuck with the banners at the top and bottom of my page, because I mindlessly switched it over from pop-ups the other day. However, I just thought I'd post (even though I'm sure the majority here already know) that if you already had pop-ups prior to that option being taken away, and you wish to keep the pop-ups, just don't update that option on your Account page. If you will notice, many other sites on Angelfire still have the pop-up option in play, because I'm assuming they haven't updated their account information in some time. Angelfire does not automatically switch them over to banners.

Everything is so SLOW!
Mood:  irritated
I haven't been on Angelfire for quite a while but decided yesterday to play around with my site but everything seems to be running really slow and making it impossible to do anything. I am not having any trouble with other sites so I don't think it's my machine. Is anyone else having problems with pages loading etc? Any ideas? I tried to complete the feedback form but that wouldn't send either! Cheers.

Banner ads
Mood:  irritated
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what's going on with the advertisements. I'm a free member, but there was a time (before the Angelfire revamp took place) that you could choose between banner ads and pop-ups. I would rather have pop-ups, as frustrating as they are, because the banners at the bottom of the page look hideous. However, now my advertisements have changed to banner ads, and there is no way to change them back to pop-up ads using My Account. Has Angelfire changed the ads strictly to banners? If so, I might consider moving my page elsewhere, until I can eventually get paid membership.

AF Redesign - Update

The first update to the new AF site was completed today with a second scheduled for next week. If you see any problems or have any general comments or concerns, please comment in this thread.

Fixes:

1. Major performance tuning for the 'anon' frontdoor. (Logged out)
2. Performance improvements for the logged-in frontdoor. Disk space calculations are now done in a separate frame to speed loading.
3. Photo album fixes for occasional 500 errors.
4. Posting to community blogs now displays the correct username.
5. Webshell editing "preview" mode now displays pages correctly. (Images were broken.)
6. Various link fixes, popups ads where they don't belong, typos, etc.

Still outstanding is that old versions of the webshell (basic and advanced editors) would assume that 'angelfire.lycos.com' is a valid domain for member pages. This has not been true for years, but the new update removes legacy compatibility. We will be updating member files over the weekend (and into early next week, if necessary) that were subject to this bug to make them point to the correct places again.

We are also aware of blogs performance issues, especially on Tripod, and are working to resolve them as soon as possible.

Dreamweaver and ftp problems with Angelfire
Mood:  don't ask
Now Playing: don't ask
I saw the post where the fellow said he was having problems using his ftp to upload files to his site.
I am too. My dreamweaver program tells me that it can't sync up with Angelfire's server clock so that it can upload properly. Angelfire help says its a Dreamweaver problem, but I had mine checked out and they say it's Angelfire. Anybody else?

We're both speaking English but it's not the same language???
Why the dickens is Angelfire making this process so darned difficult? It should be as simple to create a web page as it is to post this message. Same principle: type in text, use the toolbar to highlight things, add a few options with click-on scrollie things (the way one has to 'click-on' the word 'state' in a lot of sites, then scroll down to the desired abbreviation for the chosen state). I have no problem posting information to a forum. I can even cpy-and-paste an image and post it onto my signature line on most forums. I can't make heads nor tails out of Angelfire's "easy" instructions on how to get started building a web page--as old Calvin (from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip) once said, it's as if we're both speaking English but we're not speaking the same language.

FTP Problems
I currently tried using FTP with angelfire with a program, but apparently angelfire isn't responding. Is anyone else having this problem?
