I know that 'blog' is a new word which has crept into
cyber-language, of late.

Only problem being, that everyone knows what a guestbook is; whereas, not everyone is familiar with the 'blog' concept.

The word is actually an abbreviation of 'web log'.

We have forums, message boards & guestbooks...now we have 'Blogs' as well.

Oh, I almost forgot 'Phlog', which is a photo log
posted by the 'blogger'

'shlogs' are blogs and/or phlogs, which die a slow death due to inactivity.....and are usually bereft of useful comment or material.....

RE: Blogs - Correction:

In my previous message, I referred to 'Shlogs' as defunct
blogs and phlogs; whereas, in point of fact, a 'shlog' is
a 'shopping blog'. Sorry about that!

It seems that I was also mistaken about 'Phlogs'.....

Also, concerning my comment about not many people being familiar with 'blogs'; I came across a press release about a survey conducted by Debbie Weil; one particular paragraph of which caught my eye. Here's what it said. . .

Other questions in the survey revealed that 82% of respondents did, in fact, know what a blog was, while 2.9% had no idea. 44.7% thought the word ?blog? was descriptive. 33% feel the term is just plain silly and 22.3% said the word is ?ugly.?

Blogs include:

* plogs--personal blah blah blah blogs.
* clogs--corporate blogs.
* phlogs--philosophical (conceptual) blogs, like this one.
* shlogs--shopping blogs, that recommend good bargains and ecommerce sites.
* glogs--group blogs, like for clubs, churches, etc.
