Angelfire's New Look
Topic: News
The Angelfire team launched our new look today and we're all very proud of it. Take some time to browse around, we think that you might like it. The big changes are the removal of the dated "Angelfire Zones", to be replaced by a new Angelfire site directory. (That's still being polished, but there are tons of good sites in there already.) The old homepage is completely gone, replaced by one that gives you quick access to common "My Account" info like subscription plan, disk quota, etc.

The team is still polishing the release. The big known issue right now is that login will appear to be slow if you have many, many files. That is being fixed, probably by tomorrow. In the interim, you can go to https://www.angelfire.com/auth/login for a different login box that takes you directly to WebShell. That should help for the time being.

This new look and feel is still being polished and there are additional changes planned soon. If you see any problems, please respond in this thread and I will make sure they get raised. Please feel free to also post your suggestions (or compliments! I hope!) here also.

The new look is great, but now my site is all messed up. It worked fine yesterday, but now, barely any of my images load, my page will not reference my css file, and I have changed nothing. My website looks horrible, and I want to know why things have changed. Who can help me figure this out? And why did this happen?

The first page will load fine, bu then any other part of the site you visit is not working. I am very confused, as all the code is exactly the same as it was yesterday...

at the very top of the pages you have
bASE HREF="https://www.angelfire.lycos.com/goth2/devilboy/"

it suppose to be

base HREF="https://www.angelfire.com/goth2/devilboy/"

Thank you so much. The wierd thing is, I did not have lycos in there before. It was working perfectly, and then it just changed... I am confused... But thank you, now I can fix it.

Is there any way I can change all of my html files at once? I was just wondering because this will take a while to fix. Wonder how that lycos got in that link...

What program did you use that put in the incorrect BASE HREFs? I admit that they did work before, but that was as much an accident as anything we did on purpose. That should not have worked before. If one of our tools put that in there, we need to fix the tool.

As far as your pages are concerned, they are fixed because I can change them all en masse pretty easily, but I can't do that for everyone. (I'm not supposed to touch user content, really... sort of against the rules...) Your old files are in the "backup" directory.

I used the advanced editor that is provided with the angelfire webshell. I just typed in the base link by hand when I coded each page. I may have had the link wrong, and it is weird that they worked at all in the first place. And thank you, I see that all of the pages are fixed now.

I'm having some problems with the new layout. I actually like the new look alot, it is much more convienient for quick logins, but I cannot access anything in my account. I can log in fine, but when I try to access my webshell, the page reloads with the logo and side link bar (with the webshell button yellow and activated), but nothing else.. no content. I know it is there, I checked out the source and I can see that all my files are listed in the code(thank god..)..but the page is just blank, with no way to access my files. The same goes for the other links besides the Webshell, such as My Account...etc.
I have an iMac OS 9.0, and Internet Explorer 5.0, if it makes any difference. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

Your issue has been forwarded on to the team and we'll try and reproduce it tomorrow and see if we can get it fixed.

I share the same problem. I log on with no trouble, yet my files are not there--just white space. I use IE 5.0 and run Mac 9.2 (I've also tried with Netscape 4.7 -- yeah I know it's really old-- but no luck). Please advise. I've been using angelfire for seven years and have never had a problem.

Try netscape 7 or another mozilla based browser. I guarantee you'll love tabbed browsing and the built in popup blocker.

FWIW- I have no problems with any AF pages in MacOS 10.3 but in classic mode (MacOs9.2) the new AF main page crashes Netscape 4.7. In OS9.2 IE doesn't crash but I see see the same blank space you see in IE5- the file list turns up in the source code but won't display on the page.

The new look is very pretty, but it creates a problem to me. I can not switch from one page to another. I was so proud of my web-site on Angelfire. Please, Please and please help us and solve the problems related to the new-look. We are all proud of our Angelfire.
Thanks.
