To put it briefly, the meta tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes

you are using images on your site so you need to add alt=image discription so the search can find it. like this

<img src="sphere.gif" alt="image discription here">

one more thing you need to change the title of the page at the top right now it says My Home Page change it to "Elementary school poems" or something like that.

if you need to add meta tags as tom said you need to convert the page from basic editor to advance editor to get to the head of the page.
