How to use Categories on the Menu Bar

I'm having problems with the "Categories" function. I'm the blog webmaster for this site and I can not make posts to any of the topic categories I've created:

ok I figured out how to use the topic function, however I can not append to my posts like I just did here.

Just so we're on the same page, how are you posting to a category? Are you selecting the catgory from the drop down topic list when you create your entry?

The only way to post to a category/topic is to manually select the topic when you create your entry. Are you doing that?
