Form Handler Mail Working?
Mood:  not sure
Topic: CGI scripts

I am testing my Form Handler CGI script that
sends an email to several addresses. It has
previously worked for the past 5 years but hasn't
worked now for the past several days during my test . The last email I received was in March!

Has something changed recently to make my
code not work?

Is the Form Handler Mail server not working? (This
has happened in the past).

Any Suggestions are appreciated

If you did not change anything, then it is server problem, wait a day if it doesn't fix, open a ticket here

I just released an update to MS FrontPage support. Can you tell me if that fixes the problem for you?

Thanks for the response.

I opened a ticket 7/2/7 after waiting several days to see if the email was delayed. Even checked my spam bucket @ bellsouth. Still no email on my lastest check and no rsponse on the ticket.

My guess it is the email that is not working.

No fix for me.

I've tried a couple more tests and still no email from my form.

Hmm. The *form* works though, right? Can you give me the URL to it so I can try sending some tests?

Do you have any problems with spam on that form, btw?

I think this was my mistake for thinking it was a MS Frontpage problem. You may have an "Angelfire" style form. When you send the URL, I'll be able to know for sure.

where is the form on your site?

My test page that generates

"/cgi-bin/script_library/form_handler_mail"

and that I use to test the AF system is https://www.angelfire.com/falcon/crhoa/test.html

It has not been modified since 8/29/2002. It has been used several times to find my mistakes in edits of more complicated forms.

I have a more complicated fill-in form on my web site that gets edited on occasion. The old working version (as of 3/2007 - last email sent) has been renamed but has no code mods. It is

https://www.angelfire.com/falcon/crhoa/OnlineACC_old.html

Still no email from the Angelfire Form Mailer <the_form_robot@angelfire.com> when I test

I also notice there are unfamiliar subdirectories with date of 5/23/2007 (/_private,   /_vti_bin,   /_vti_cnf,   /_vti_pvt,   /_vti_txt )

that do not look familiar - I usually don't look at that too closely and could be wrong.

Could it be directory renaming on the server that has the

 form handler mail not working?

Thanks

BTW the preview of this reply goes off page and can not be sent

I just pushed out another fix, can you please let me know if mail is flowing for you now?

(I was in Boston earlier for the fireworks, but left early because of all of the rain. So, I fixed this instead...)

 STRANGE VERY STRANGE

I am finally getting some email sent by the form handler with my test code. The strange thing is that about 50% of the submittals are sent while the others are not.  Out of 10 sent, I received email for #3,5,7,8,9. The others are missing. It seems that if I don't see it on my mail server quickly (<10 secs) it doesn't ever show up. (I've checked the spam filter too)

The form handler mail still has probs...

JP - sorry about the rain ruining your Independence Day - I would have gladly traded you the 24 hr stomach flu that my kids gave me for some wet stuff - we need it here in Atlanta!

Thanks
