guestbook problem
In the last week, my guestbook (lycos html gear) has begun receiving spam (viagra, etc.). How can it work its way into a guestbook? Fortunately, I have the option to edit messages before they're posted, but it seems that lycos, in all its wisdom, should be able to block such messages before they make their way to the guestbook.

Name: tom

Unfortunately, that is a common problem with
any guestbook, not only Lycos.

We, the guestbook administrators must try to 'keep on top of it'. It's as simple as that.

I receive an email notice from Lycos, whenever there
has been a new posting, and by checking my emails twice
a day, I can clean up the spam shortly after it's arrival.

Personally, I do not like to use the 'approval before
posting' method, since this works against the natural
inclination of the surfer's desire for instant gratification.

In other words, folks love to see their messages right away....
