Angelfire loading issues on FireFox
Topic: HTML Questions

Greetings,

I have begun to notice some layout issues with the new Angelfire and Firefox 2.0.0.14 for Linux.

The layout appears to be broken and spread out.  Tried Konqurer with the same results.

I have screenshots of the Angelfire homepage using FF:

 http://efreephoto.com/image-20374526464ca17cc4a776f.htm

It also affected one of my sites, which I also have a copy of it on Tripod, and it works fine on there.

The site on Tripod:

http://picshome.com/getfile.php?id=114208&access_key=f7f6e8a7ba982858ae6d8a3a2cb813c4&t=4ca18d58&o=657F246FD67E1F40649897874EFE7563316D0223CB93DF1B24A6FF4DD4F9C52675337D20008A21545D1DFA8B9B50FF6D&name=tnsc1.png

What it looks like on Angelfire:

 http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/8240/tnsc2.png

Id this just a browser issue, or is there something else going on??

(This flavor of Linux wont really let me update FF to its latest.)

Now Angelfire looks ok on Google Chrome, but the TNSC site above is still broken only on Angelfire, it worked perfectly on AF before the change, and has only been broken today - I have not made any changes to the source on my end.  The source is also cited properly as XHTML 1.0.

Just a minor issue :)
Mood:  chillin'

The NEW Angelfire Control Panel & Webshell is very nice, but it is too
big for my 'old man's size screen' @ 800X600 pixels. I would have to
adjust my screen resolution settings to at least 1024X768 pixels, in order
to see the whole page.

Would it be a problem to go back to the 'one size fits all' format?

HELP!
Now Playing: smart quote problem?
Topic: HTML Questions

I have a problem.  I have had my website through Angelfire for over 11 years, and I've done the same thing for that time.  I write my posting in Word (it uses smart quotes, etc.) send it to my mailing lists and then add necessary code and post it in my webshell.

I went in to the webshell today, shocked that everything is new but willing to learn, and edited two of my pages.  When I opened those to edit in the webshell, all the 'smart quotes' could not be read and when I saved the page with my changes, all quotes and apostrophes and other symbols changed to other gobble-de-gook.

The rest of my pages are ok, but as soon as I have to open them to do some editing, I'm going to lose my formatting.  I already have to fix three pages, and I'll have to access several more by the end of the week.  I'd rather not have to change my system.  Is there some way of making the webshell recognize my smart quotes and other auto text?

Working on a Problem with Webshell Login
Mood:  energetic
Topic: News

Since the launch of the new site there is a handful of users who are unable to get WebShell to load properly. Senior engineers are looking at the problem now and will publish an update as soon as they get to the bottom of it. No files are missing... there is a bug preventing WebShell from loading properly. We will update as soon as we have a fix out.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for using Angelfire.

Never Before ...
Mood:  irritated
Topic: HTML Questions

Can somebody help me here.  I've had an angelfire account and a web site for 10 years! I've been adding files and building the website in the webshell in html for a long time. I do this on a weekly basis. Never any problems or worries. This week I LOST six days of data! Anything I had entered or saved during these past six days was gone Monday morning. I called tech support for angelfire and they had no idea or suggestions. I was hoping it was a system issue and my files would be restored. I've re-entered the information and everything seems to be okay and back to normal --- so far. Very scary, and it cost me about 2 hours of additional work. Anybody else experience this or know what may have gone wrong?

Web Shell Appearance Configuration
Mood:  d'oh

While a new design is aboýt to be introduced, I would like to see onr thing in the web shell appearance configuration.

We can choose the width and length of the Editors Text box.
I have one request here. Can we also select one language and set that language as well.

Everytime I go to the editors box, it defaylts to Western European character sets and I have to change it to whatever character set I want.

The set remains the same as long as I am in that session. But, when I get out of editor and come back, it is changed to Western European Characters.

It would be nice to fix that language to whatever your choice is, just like we fix the width and length of the box size.

New Angelfire coming soon!

Dear Angelfire users,

Angelfire’s design and functionality is about to receive a major upgrade. The plan is to replace the existing design with one that’s more contemporary and that uses the latest Web technologies. Also, from here on out Angelfire will focus more on the Site Builder tool.

To see some screen shots of the new design, check this site out http://saohara.angelfire.com/index.html (coded in Angelfire's WebShell).

The new Angelfire also will involve the Angelfire community more. Like our sister property, www.tripod.com which got its own design upgrade earlier this year) Angelfire now has a Facebook page and a Twitter Feed. We’ll also be a lot more active in the Angelfire Club...interacting with our users and fielding questions.

None of the tools you currently have access to will be eliminated. However, new users to Angelfire will not have access to the Blog or Photo Album tools because they will be replaced later this year by new Add-ons in our site builder.

We had a really positive response from the Tripod community following the upgrade earlier this year and we're confident you'll agree our changes make the site more attractive and much easier to use and navigate.

We don’t have a release date yet for this upgrade but we plan to launch it in the fall. We wanted to be certain to give you a heads up before we implement the change.

I honestly don't know how anyone can have the patience to work with Webon. It's about 100 times harder to use than coding.

I've just spent hours on it. Text won't change when you use the tools, text changes colour without warning, spaces between text appear without warning, I've just accidentally moved a picture from one column to next and can't put it back. The web tool from Hell.

I wish you'd given us php instead of that gadget.

How doI hide or unpublish a webpage as I build it?

I am working on Angelfire webpage using their web shell builder . My pages are working and showing up on the net well.

My question is how do I work on the pages without them showing up on the net as I'm building them?

Maybe I missed the obvious but I didnt see a way to take down or hide the webpage without deleting it.

Thanks,

Brian

Can I use Microsoft Expression Web 3 to buid my Angelfire site?
Mood:  rushed

New member here.. just wondering if I can use Microsoft's Expression Web 3 to build my site and upload files? I see that Angelfire allows Front Page however Microsoft has stopped supporting FP extensions so I've purchased Expression Web 3. It uses it's own FTP. When I signed up, I selected "FTP" as my method of web building.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Barb

Form Mail and Email Not Functional
Mood:  irritated
Topic: CGI scripts

I have been experiencing difficulty with my Contact Form and email not sending results out for the past few months. The HTML code has been working from 2007-2009. I have the following files in my cgi-bin sub-directory as well as the following HTML form code.

AngelfireCGI.pm

modules_readme.html

AngelfireInsert.pm

AngelfireMail.pm

AngelfirePage.pm

CGI.pm

AngelfireDate.pm

Formmail.pl

I was told by Angelfire tech support to use Matts PEARL script (Formmail.pl). Do I need to modify this script to make this functional?

Your help is appreciated?

HTML Form Code:

<form action="/cgi-bin/script_library/form_handler_mail" method="post" id="form" style="margin:0; padding:0 ">

<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="email_to" VALUE="scottrose.brown@comcast.net,oceanviewspsllc@aim.com">

loading photos to blog
I haven't added to my blog in quite some time and wanted to start again.  Tried to upload a photo, and it refuses.  Of course, I reduced the size and all that, but it just won't accept it.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
